Studio Toilets, George Carlin RIP

Welcome!!!
Welcome to my blog! For those of you who don’t know me, I am the guitarist in Kyoshi. I’ve noticed that anytime I contact people it’s to tell them about a gig or a new track and that’s cool- the gigs are good and the songs are even better so I don’t feel like I’m hassling people.

But, I’ve also noticed that when I’m bored, or at work or just reading my emails, I like to read stuff that’s funny or informative in some way. So I’m going to try my hardest to be funny and informative for a few hundred words a week! Considering I’m not especially funny when I write (my sister says I’m like an office nerd when I’m writing, too serious!) or that well informed, it is going to be a challenge!

Recording with top producer
Some of you will know that last week, we were recording three tracks to radio standard with the Animal Farm production team. It was a great week and we worked really hard to make three brilliant, exciting tunes. Leanne was on top form and Ben and Chris were also outstanding. We’re looking forward to getting the mixes back next week- when it’s all finished I’m sure I will be hassling you all to take a listen ;-)

What happened to me in the public toilets there!!!
On a somewhat funnier note- I went to take a leak in a public toilet at the studio complex. I was minding my own business when I hear a voice from the next cubicle say

"Hello mate, how you doing?”

I was a little bemused and taken a-back and I thought it a bit strange but not wanting to be rude I replied,

"Yeah, not too bad thanks.".

Then he says, “What you up to mate?”.

Now I’m wondering what this guy wants but I’m still a tad flummoxed so I go, “I’m just having a piss, thanks!”.

I then heard the voice for the third time....

"Sorry mate, I'll have to call you back. I've got some dickhead in the loo next to me answering everything I say."

Seriously, this really happened! A guy was calling his mate when he’s having a shit and I get called a dickhead- what is the world coming to!!!

George Carlin, 1937 - 2008
I am very sad (this isn’t funny by the way) to hear that the great comedian and satirist, George Carlin died on June 22nd. He was probably one of the funniest stand-ups ever and was a big influence on alternative comedy. He’s one of those rare public figures who was simultaneously entertaining and important. Actor Ben Stiller called Carlin "a hugely influential force in stand-up comedy. He had an amazing mind, and his humour was brave, and always challenging us to look at ourselves and question our belief systems, while being incredibly entertaining. He was one of the greats."

A true rebel and renegade, he’ll be sorely missed; although I’m sure that Hendrix, Lennon and Sartre are welcoming him with a spliff for the Great Gig in the Sky! If you haven’t seen this guy, you need to search for him on Youtube.
